Purdue QB Siller earns Big 10 honor
INDIANAPOLIS -- Purdue quarterback Justin Siller has been named the Big Ten offensive co-player of the week for his performance in the Boilermakers' 48-42 win over Michigan.
The redshirt freshman shared the honor with Northwestern quarterback Mike Kafka.
Siller made his first career start Saturday in place of the injured Curtis Painter and completed 21 of 34 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 77 yards and a touchdown as Purdue beat the Wolverines for the first time since 2000.
Painter suffered a separated shoulder on Oct. 25 against Minnesota. He had started a nation-best 40 straight games before sitting out against Michigan. The two are listed as co-starters on the depth chart heading into Saturday's game at Michigan State.
