Author Hagberg to speak at Judson

Events scheduled at Judson University in November and December. Lectures/Speaker Presentations: All are open to the public at no cost.

• Nov. 14, 10 a.m. Judson University's Chapel Service: Keynote Presenter will be author Amy Hammond Hagberg. Hagberg is the author of the popular "How Do You Know He's Real" book series, writes for magazines all around the globe and is a sought-after speaker. Hagberg's radio show "God Unplugged" showcases the profound real-life journeys and dramatic encounters with God by celebrated athletes, authors, recording artists, and actors.

• Nov. 17, 10 a.m.: Judson University's Chapel Service: Keynote Presenter will be visiting lecturer Dr. Fisher Humphreys, professor emeritus, Systematic Theology, Beeson Divinity School of Samford University, Birmingham, Ala. Dr. Humphreys' presentation is part of Judson University's first Edgar Boss Lecture Series.

Music concerts: Tickets are available to the public

• Nov. 13, 7 p.m.: Judson University Community Symphonic Band Concert will perform at Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. The band will perform works Sousa's "The Black Horse Troop," Grainger's "Handel in the Strand" and Wagner's "Prelude to Die Meistersinger." The band will also feature John Williams music from "Jurassic Park." Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for seniors and non-Judson students.

• Nov, 16, 3 p.m.: Judson University Chamber Choir Concert will perform at Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. Tickets are $5 adults and $2.50 for seniors and non-Judson students.

Nov. 23, 3 p.m.: Judson University Community Orchestra Concert will perform at at Herrick Chapel, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. The orchestra will perform Rossini's "Overture from La Gazza Landra" and several selections from Puccini featuring tenor Dr. Josh Jones as soloist. Also, the orchestra will perform Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A, Op. 90. Tickets are $5 adults and $2.50 seniors and non-Judson students.

Theater: Tickets are available to the public

Nov. 13-16, 21-23, Judson University Theater Production of "The Apple Tree." From the songwriting team of "Fiddler On The Roof" comes a unique evening of three one-act musicals about men, women and a little thing called temptation. Performances will be held at 7 p.m., Nov. 13-15 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16; and the following weekend at 7 p.m. Nov. 21-22 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 23. All performances will be held in the Thompson Center, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $7 for students. Dec. 4, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.: The Partners in Brilliance Breakfast Presentation will feature Armond Dinverno, a principal and co-president of Balasa Dinverno Foltz LLC, a wealth management firm based in Itasca, Ill., speak on the theme "Post Campaign Financial Perspectives." Dinverno has extensive experience in the income tax, estate planning, retirement planning, and investment management areas. He has been recognized by Robb Report worth magazine as one of the "Best Financial Advisors" in America, listed as "Top 100 Planners in the Country" by Mutual Funds magazine and included as one of "The 150 Best Financial Advisers for Doctors" by Medical Economics magazine. He received the TEC Organization Emerging Entrepreneur Member Achievement Recognition and was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 2006.
