Aurora toddler's death an accident, jury rules

The drowning of a 20-month-old Aurora boy in a retention pond on Sept. 30 has officially been ruled an accident, a Kane County Coroner's inquest completed this weekend showed.

Nate Strasser of the 3700 block of Gabrielle Lane was found in the pond near the Hunter's Glen apartment complex in the 300 block of North Oakhurst Road.

Aurora police officers ruled the drowning an accident at the time because the child slipped away from a relative. The relative called police only minutes after the boy was missing.

The boy was discovered in the pond after a search of the area by police.
