Police: Burglar steals $16,000 from church

EDWARDSVILLE _ The search is on in Edwardsville for a burglar who police say stole $16,000 in money and checks from a church.

Police have released a surveillance camera picture of the suspect involved in the theft earlier this month from Saint Boniface Catholic Church.

Investigators say the church was open at the time, and the money and checks were taken from a secured location.

Police say the suspect was driving a late-model, sport utility vehicle with a sun roof.

Anyone with information is asked to call Edwardsville police.
