Bowling fundraiser to help Elgin family
A Candlelight Bowl fundraiser for Carson Snyder will be held Saturday, Nov. 29 at Elgin Lanes, 401 Shepard Drive in Elgin. It will start with pizza at 7 p.m. and bowling at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25.
Carson is the son of Doug and Sara Snyder of Elgin. He was born Aug. 28, 2008 with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, which means he was born missing almost the entire left side of his diaphragm. His stomach, intestines and part of the liver ascended into the left chest cavity. Surgery has been performed to put in an artificial diaphragm and will allow, over time for his left lung to develop and his heart to move back to where it belongs. Carson's prognosis is unknown at this time. Therefore, he may remain at Children's Memorial Hospital for up to several months.
