Why develop drugs no one can afford?

Medicine prices are so high many people who need them can't afford them. The pharmaceutical companies say they have to charge the high prices they do because they need the money for research.

So, here's the thing: they're charging outrageous prices in order to do research to bring us drugs we won't be able to afford to buy.

This creates difficulty in solving the original issue of overpriced drugs. A vicious cycle.
