Weis: Obama security needs Chicago police

The superintendent of Chicago police says members of his force are needed to help protect President-elect Barack Obama.

Supt. Jody Weis said Saturday that he's working on a plan to put officers on Obama detail on their days off. Weis says that he doesn't want to take any officers off Chicago streets.

The superintendent also says the department will be assigning administrative officers, newly graduated officers and those in the training academy to aid the security detail.

Weis says "it's a big job protecting the president elect and secret service can't do it alone. They need the help of the Chicago Police Department."
