South Dakota State tops ISU
BROOKINGS, S.D. -- South Dakota State quarterback Ryan Berry threw seven touchdowns passes Saturday, leading the Jackrabbits to a 52-21 win over Illinois State in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
Berry was 17-for-29 for 237 yards for the Jackrabbits (6-4, 5-1). He had five TD pass in the first half, helping SDSU to a 38-14 lead at the break.
The Jackrabbits jumped out to a 24-0 lead after one quarter.
Glen Fox was on the receiving end of three scores and Colin Cochart caught two TDs. Fox finished with 92 yards on six catches, including scores of 51, 16 and 4 yards.
SDSU rushed for 199 yards and finished with 436 total yards. Kyle Minett rushed 25 times for 161 yards.
Illinois State (3-6, 2-4) managed just 255 total yards, 86 of those on the ground. The Redbirds also had three passes picked off.
Kevin Brockway was 11-for-28 for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Brockway tossed a 6-yard strike to Eyad Salem and a 70-yarder to Warren McCarty.
Salem had seven catches for 71 yards.
Walter Mendenhall led the Redbirds in rushing with 73 yards on 22 carries.
