Santa to visit deaf, hard-of-hearing

Santa Claus will make a very special appearance on Sunday, Dec. 6, at Harper College to visit with deaf and hard-of-hearing children. The college's American Sign Language club will welcome the jovial holiday icon to its annual Winter Party, which will also include food, crafts and games. Santa will communicate in sign language as deaf and hard-of-hearing children share their Christmas lists.

The free event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Student Center on the Palatine campus, Algonquin and Roselle roads. Sponsored by the Kids of Deaf Adults and the West Suburban Association of the Deaf, the popular party is open to deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adults, their families and friends.

Participants must register by Monday, Dec. 1, by e-mailing justmel1969@hotmail.com or calling Deaf Club adviser Bob Paul at (847) 925-6602.
