Batavia TV seeks new board member

Batavia Access Television Inc. is currently seeking a new member-at-large for their board of directors.

The jurisdiction of the BATV organization includes and extends to those areas of Batavia comprising any area governed by the city of Batavia, Batavia Township, Batavia School Unit 101, the Batavia Library District, and the Batavia Park District.

The BATV board of directors is comprised of one member from each governmental entity mentioned above as appointed by their respective council/board; a member of the chamber of commerce; and four at-large citizen members appointed by the BATV Board. There shall be a Batavia High School student appointed on an annual basis to represent the views of BHS students; this will be a nonvoting position. In addition, the BATV station manager, program director and technical director shall be nonvoting members of the board.

The members shall be appointed on the basis of expertise, experience, or interest in the areas of PEG access television (Public, Education, Government). Each member appointed shall have a demonstrated interest and/or background in PEG access television. As a member of the board, a member-at-large acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization.

This at-large position is a replacement member and shall be appointed to serve for the unexpired term only, with eligibility for reappointment to a three-year term in September 2009. Members shall serve without compensation.

The BATV Board generally meets on the fourth Friday of each month at 7:45 a.m. Members are also appointed to a committee of their choice that meets once per month on a mutually agreed upon date and time.
