Plenty of blame to go around
I had to respond to Mary F. Warren from Wheaton (10/1/08 "GOP has brought world to its knees"). In her letter, Mary blames all current economic problems on the GOP. There is plenty of blame to go around. To blame the situation we find ourselves in on one party is ignorant as best and purposely misleading at worst. I respectfully ask Mary to do some research into policies instituted by Democrats to pressure banks to give home loans to people with no, little, or bad credit history, otherwise face a fine (i.e: Community Reinvestment Act of 1977). She should also look into both John McCain and President Bush warning, as far back as 2003, that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were not being run property and needed more regulation. The Democrats blocked it, saying there were no problems with Fannie and Freddie. Mary also felt that this economic crisis has taken away from the presidential campaign. Both McCain and Obama hold elected office, as senators. Their job is to represent their constituents in the senate, and the press should report on the crisis. Campaigning will just have to wait.
