South Elgin wins regional opener

South Elgin (6-11-1) got a goal off a corner kick from Alex Walter in the second overtime to beat Addison Trail 3-2 at the Class 3A Streamwood regional Saturday. Leyden eliminated Elgin (3-17-1) by a 4-1 score.

At Wheaton Academy: Burlington Central (10-10-2) got goals from Steven Hall, Ryan Warner and Cameron Ostrowski to beat IMSA 3-0 in the Class 2A Wheaton Academy regional. Kyle DeRaedt made 8 saves in goal for BC.

At Westminster Christian: St. Edward (6-16-2) suffered a 2-0 season-ending loss to top-seeded Harvard, and Westminster Christian was eliminated by Genoa-Kingston 4-2 at the Class 1A Westminster regional.

At Elk Grove: Bartlett (6-11-5) saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to the hosts at the Class 3A Elk Grove regional.
