Hoffman Estates apt. damaged in blaze

The Hoffman Estates Fire Department battled a fire late Saturday night in an apartment.

The department was called to the Barrington Lakes Apartments around midnight Saturday.

Firefighters found smoke on the first floor hallway and a fire in the kitchen of an apartment.

The fire was distinguished by 12:15 a.m. and contained to the kitchen. The damage is estimated at $50,000. The cause is still undetermined.
