2 teens shot on Chicago's South Side

Chicago police say one teenager was killed and another was severely wounded in a shooting on the city's South Side.

Officers said the shooting occurred around 8:45 p.m. Saturday as the two teens were standing along the sidewalk when a man walked up and began firing at them with a handgun.

Paramedics took 17-year-old Ernest Williams to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead about two hours later.

The 14-year-old was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was reported in serious to critical condition.

His identity was not released.

Police said the motive for the shooting was possibly gang and drug-related, but could not immediately provide investigative details.
