Naperville police looking for cemetery vandals

Naperville police are hunting for vandals who smashed or stole statues, urns and vases from at least 18 plots at Naperville Cemetery, 705 S. Washington St.

Police said the damage occurred between Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning. All the damage was reported on the cemetery's west side.

Police also are investigating vandalism to several antique headstones on display at nearby Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St. That damage occurred between Oct. 3 and Oct. 8, police said, and investigators aren't sure if the incidents are related.

Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the incident. Callers to Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006 may remain anonymous.
