Sundling Jr. High will be open Thursday
School will open at the normal time Thursday after a faulty electrical panel caused the evacuation of Sundling Junior High in Palatine today.
Firefighters responded to the school around noon to find smoke in the generator room and possible damage to the fire alarm panel.
Though investigators determined there was no fire hazard, fire and school district officials decided not to allow students back into the building until proper repairs could be made to the electrical and alarm systems.
Approximately 750 students were bused to Winston Campus, where they finished out the day.
School will open at the normal time Thursday, said Assistant Superintendent James Garwood. The District 15 Board of Education meeting is still scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at Sundling.
