A satirical view of the Paulson's bailout
Secretary Paulson's (original) $700 billion plan to bail out failing companies will succeed! I have faith, because our leaders have faith. Although some of them were initially against bailouts (Bush, McCain, Paulson), cooler heads have prevailed and have convinced the rest of the government that bailouts are the way to go (Bush, McCain, Paulson).
I'm with those guys! (the second group).
Everything works out: CEOs will still have their golden parachutes; the Secretary will have all $700 billion at his disposal immediately even though they've claimed it will only cost about $50 billion per month; and most importantly..."decisions by the secretary pursuant to the authority of this act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency." And why should he ever be held accountable?
Bush's FISA law that permits warrantless domestic surveillance is no big deal; although the federal governments failed to meet the needs of the people of the Gulf Coast after Katrina, those people chose to live there; Abu Ghraib was probably only perpetrated by those low-level officials found guilty; Alberto Gonzales was within his rights to fire eight U.S. attorneys because he didn't remember that it happened; Valerie Plame had it coming; and of course, Bin Laden attacked so Saddam had to pay.
Give Paulson a little discretion and trust. With this administration, I don't think we have any right to question their authority or decisions.
