Antioch men accused of car burglaries

Police have arrested two Antioch men they say are responsible for a rash of recent car burglaries in Lake County.

Jeffrey M. Allen, 20, and Mark A. Lazansky, 22, have been involved in 10 car burglaries over the last two days, Lake County sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Thompson said. The sheriff charged them with five counts of burglary of a motor vehicle.

Antioch police also charged them with two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and with forgery. Round Lake Beach police charged Allen with possession of stolen property.

Round Lake police found items sold to a pawnshop and reviewed the serial numbers. A GPS unit came back as stolen from Antioch, and officers tracked down who had sold the unit to the shop, police said. Stolen items included a GPS system, car stereos, baseball caps, prescription medication and a cell phone. Those items were returned to their owners.

The two have a Nov. 6 court date and remained at Lake County jail on a $25,000 bond.
