Buffalo Grove cops: Mom locked kids in car during job interview

A Chicago woman was charged with endangering the life of a child after she left her two children in a car in Buffalo Grove.

Taneka Granderson, 26, of the 1100 block of S. Avers, was arrested around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday at the office complex on the 1000 block of Johnson Drive. Someone who works in the building went to lunch and noticed the two children crying in the car.

Buffalo Grove police say they were called to a parking lot and found the children, 1 and 2 years old, crying and calling for their mother.

Paramedics said the 2-year-old and 17-month-old were fine after they were removed from the car. But Buffalo Grove Police Cmdr. Steve Husak said it took almost 15 minutes to find the mother, who was in the building for a job interview.

Granderson is scheduled to appear in Lake County Circuit Court on November 6. Authorities say the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was informed of the case.
