Thanks to DuPage social services
My late mother, Marlene Margaret Fahy, was in the DuPage County foster care system in the mid- 1950s - graduating in 1957 from Elmhurst High School. Her foster family's last name was Duff (I was told that they were an elderly couple) and my mother always spoke kindly of them and referred to them as "Mom and Dad Duff." I guess I'll just get straight to the point - I am thankful to the Duff family for opening their door and providing a place of refuge for my mother.
She went on and became a wonderful mother (I admit that as her eldest child that I'm a bit biased here) and in spite of a rough beginning raised 4 children and made sure that we grew up to be good citizens.
I extend a thank you to the Duff family and the county social services for all that they did for my mother.
