SUV rolls over in Inverness
A man in his upper 80s driving a Lexus SUV struck a landscape trailer around 9 a.m. Thursday, causing the Lexus to roll over onto its roof on Durham Drive near Firth Road in Inverness, a fire official said. According to Battalion Chief Ed McGarry with the Palatine Rural Fire Department, the car's front passenger's-side fender hit the rear of the parked trailer. The impact pushed the SUV over, and it slid into the culvert on the side of the road, McGarry added. The man, whose name was not released, was treated at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. According to McGarry, the driver, who was alone, crawled out of the upside down Lexus and was walking around when paramedics arrived. "He's a tough old guy," McGarry said. "He didn't want to go to the hospital." The man told paramedics he was blinded by the sun and didn't see the trailer. The Lexus was totaled, McGarry said, and the trailer was "banged up pretty good." It was not immediately known if the driver would be ticketed.
