Voting with reason versus emotion

We are about to vote for President and decide who will be the most powerful man on the planet at a time of a global economic crisis, global warfare threats from terrorists, Iran, North Korea; and a global oil shortage as global supplies dwindle and global demand increases. We have not seen such dangerous times since the Cold War and proven leadership is now critical.

Without getting in the middle of the emotional partisan debates, let's assume that both McCain and Obama are good, well intentioned men. Let's have the choice be focused on actual performance as measured by hard data. Talk is always cheap, measurable performance results is the only reliable criteria when critical choices are to be made. Obama has no executive experience at all. As a U.S. Senator who has served 150 days, he has virtually no measurable track record on leading and passing important legislation, on leading bipartisan progress, and we don't have much actual hard data to prove the nature of his character. While he certainly is a motivating speaker, we really have very little hard data from which to judge him.

McCain on the other hand has decades of documented proof of his character, his achievements, his bipartisan leadership, his willingness to take on Washington (both parties), and his bravery under stress. While each of us may disagree with John McCain on some issues, nobody can challenge his love of country and willingness to take on tough subjects and his effectiveness in doing so.

At a time of great global risk, hope and promises of change are not enough for choosing the most important office holder in the world. There is simply no substitute for data based and proven experience and results. You would not choose a heart surgeon based on hope, you would demand proof of expertise. How can it be any different for the most important job in the world?

Barack Obama is the least experienced major party candidate in 100 years or more. John McCain is the most experienced and most tested candidate in 100 years. Based on reason and data and given the incredible danger that we face in the world, there is simply no choice for the responsible voter and no need to get emotional.
