One injured in Mundelein store robbery
Three men, one armed with a handgun, robbed a Mundelein clothing store Wednesday, police said.
The stickup occurred about 12:30 p.m. at El Guerrero Western Wear, 678 S. Lake St.
The owner of the shop was injured when one of the robbers hit him in the head with an unknown object, police said. He declined medical treatment, however.
The three robbers tied up the owner and put him in a changing room before fleeing with an undetermined amount of cash, police said. They left on foot, police said.
Ramon Frayre, a clerk at a nearby pawnshop, said he was startled when police arrived and added excitement to an otherwise slow business day.
"I looked up and saw cops everywhere, and I was wondering what was going on," Frayre said. "They talked to me but I didn't see anything."
Frayre said he's not really worried about crime in the area. "Things like this happen," he said.
