Kudos to Elgin for quick cleanup
I'd like to offer a compliment to Elgin. The other day, Oct. 3, I was heading home into Elgin from work. I was driving down Chicago Street and I couldn't help but notice that all about Elgin High School, up and down the road for a good half mile, was graffiti spray-painted in black paint by the same individual everywhere. On signs, on electrical boxes, even on a truck. It was sad and ugly.
I paused at the Elgin Police Department to tell them and they said they were aware of the incident, that it was probably due to homecoming, and that those serving community service would take care of it.
Just a few days later, I came down Chicago Street again and I was stunned and amazed that virtually all the graffiti was gone! Excellent job! Way to go Elgin! It's unfortunate that it happened in the first place, but I am glad it was taken care of so promptly.
