A sensational, not sensible, choice
Voters who are elated over John McCain's pick of Sarah Palin should research this Alaskan's record carefully. Scrutiny will show that she is no champion of women. For instance, in 2000 while Palin was mayor of Wasilla, she actively fought legislation that would ensure a free medical exam to victims of rape. Imagine a woman's horror and indignation when, after she is so terribly assaulted, the government turns around and bills her several hundred dollars just so a doctor can collect evidence and assess the crime scene. Such revelations about Palin can only reflect poorly on the judgment of McCain. Clearly, McCain selected Palin for being the most sensational choice, rather than the most sensible one.
