NRA's criticism of Obama is untrue

Once again, the National Rifle Association and its brethren, The American Issues Project, are falsely attacking another presidential candidate, Sen. Obama.

The NRA falsely claims in mailers and TV ads Mr. Obama plans to ban handguns, hunting ammo and use of a gun for home defense and announced it will spend $40 million to portray Sen. Obama as a threat to gun rights.

The facts stated by the NRA are totally unsubstantiated. However, when confronted, NRA officials claim " we believe our facts" and will continue their lies and distortion of truths.

I personally favor more gun control, but this is not Sen. Obama's agenda.

He proposes national legislation against concealed carry and would revive and make permanent the expired ban on semi-automatic assault weapons.

We have seen these vicious attack ads on presidential candidates in the past; don't let the powerful, deep pocketed gun lobbyists infect another election.
