Disconnect on property tax bill

Having just received my Cook County property tax bill for the second installment, I nearly fell over. I was shocked to see that my taxes had increased by just over 20 percent from last year. This is a mighty hefty increase. I should be so lucky to have this kind of increase reflected in my income.

To add insult to injury, we learned that our condo has decreased in value by more than $42,000 - or 25 percent of its value. So we are actually paying 20 percent more on a property that is worth 25 percent less.

I am the only one who thinks this doesn't make sense?
