Check out Vaudeville designs at academy's fashion show
The Salon Professional Academy in Elgin will host its fifth semiannual beauty and fashion show, "Vaudeville," at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13. Runway presentation begins at 6 p.m.
Student designs for this "dark" circus include; a lion tamer, creatures of the sea, doll parts, exotic animals, Siamese twins, a clown marriage and many more scenes of the absurd.
The event is open to the public and seating will begin at 5:30 p.m. Guests to this event can purchase popcorn raffle tickets at $3 each or five tickets for $10 to win salon service packages; including a microdermabrasion, facials, pedicures and haircolor; and REDKEN product baskets.
The raffle will take place during the intermission. All proceeds will be donated to Easter Seals Dupage and the Fox Valley Region, a local nonprofit that serves more than 3,000 infants, children and young adults with developmental disabilities to achieve maximum independence and provides support for the families who love and care for them. The semiannual fashion show provides an opportunity for students of the academy to showcase their work to potential employers as their designs are judged by a board of area salon owners; Trendsetters of Elgin, My Salon of St. Charles, Rolfsalon of Winnetka, Chazio's of LITH, Jennifer Michaels Salon of Barrington and Marshalls Salon Services, and representatives from REDKEN, more to be announced later.
The prize for first place is a pair of professional "Jaguar" shears valued at $400.
The Salon Professional Academy in Elgin is one of 35 locations nationwide, with the first one founded in 1978. The academy's students learn cutting edge techniques from experienced educators while gaining essential business skills for a successful career. It is open to the public.
The Beauty & Fashion show will be at The Salon Professional Academy in Elgin; 1029 N. Randall Road. Seating will be handled on first-come, first-serve basis.
