Political sign rules
Political signs can only be placed on private property in Geneva. Placement of any sign on public property or right of way without prior city council approval is prohibited, and such signs will be removed. As a rule of thumb, the public right of way is that area between the edge of pavement and the public walk. In neighborhoods without sidewalks, the right of way is determined by dividing the total width of the street in half, and then applying the resulting measurement to the house side of the curb measured in feet. For more information, call building commissioner Chuck Lencioni at (630) 262-0280.
