Chicago man accidentally shot by brother dies
Authorities say a man who was mistakenly shot in the head by his brother has died.
The Cook County medical examiner's office says 18-year-old Jamada Thomas died at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn on Tuesday afternoon.
Chicago police said Thomas and his 28-year-old brother Brandon were walking outside around midnight Monday when the older brother tried to shoot a dog who had bitten the younger man. The bullet struck the Jamada Thomas instead.
Brandon Thomas fled in a car and was stopped by police. As officers approached the vehicle, Thomas put a gun to his head and fired.
