Woman robbed of purse at gunpoint

Another armed robber has struck, this one early Sunday morning outside a Hoffman Estates drugstore.

Hoffman Estates police Lt. Rich Russo said a man threatened a woman with a handgun shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Walgreens at 1000 N. Roselle Road.

The woman struggled with the robber and was pushed to the ground before he made off with her purse in a dark SUV with a white spare tire, Russo said.

The purse contained an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was not injured.

The SUV was last seen driving west on Higgins Road. The robber is described as 30 to 40 years old, 5 foot 6 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He was wearing a green or tan baseball hat. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (847) 882-1818.
