Missouri native wins 'America's Got Talent'
ST. LOUIS _ Sikeston native and opera singer Neal E. Boyd is $1 million richer after winning NBC's "America's Got Talent" competition.
The 32-year-old tenor beat four other semifinalists. He won fans with his powerful voice and ability to make opera accessible to a mass audience.
Famed tenor Placido Domingo recorded a segment congratulating Boyd and predicting a brilliant career for the singer, who now lives in suburban St. Louis and sells insurance.
Boyd cried as the results were televised live Wednesday night, asking, "What has happened to my life?"
Boyd's friends from Sikeston and a former music teacher say they're thrilled his talent is being widely recognized.
