Let's debate issues rationally, logically

The recent media chatter and hysteria with our current (serious) financial mess has turned into the usual finger-pointing blame game.

Where were all these pundits when all these problems were forming?

We have the talk radio hosts and cable TV "experts" who rant and rage against anyone and everyone who disagrees with their political philosophy.

It amazes me that people pay attention to this stuff and quote these commentators as providing some divine truth on issues.

It would be nice if our Congress could just buckle down and get the best possible job done for the country. Nothing is going to be perfect, but this continuous infighting among our politicians and the media has not served us well.

I am fed up with the talking heads who make millions of dollars pitting American against American. If people want a sane, thoughtful discussion of the issues, I suggest that they turn to public broadcasting during the news hour.

It was a calm oasis this past week where people of opposing political views presented their thoughts in a rational, logical manner. The opposing viewpoints, while seemingly taking a different path on issues, at least tried to come to some consensus.

I wish we could all turn down the volume while, as our teacher's told us, we put on our thinking caps.
