Tower owner says lights were on before copter crash
A radio station's president says a security videotape obtained by investigators shows warning lights were working on a radio tower just before it was involved in a fatal medical helicopter crash.
WBIG President Rick Jakle told The (Aurora) Beacon-News on Tuesday that the tape came from a camera in an Aurora Metra station parking lot.
He says he's been informed of the tape's contents, which he says shows the 734-foot tower's lights on and blinking until the crash.
Federal investigators have said they're trying to determine if the tower's lights were on before the Air Angels helicopter clipped a guy wire and crashed last week. Four people on board died.
National Transportation Safety Board officials couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
