Cubs fans mourn loss in NL division series
In bars across Chicago, Cubs fans felt the all-too-familiar waves of disappointment.
Again.
Twenty-six-year-old Chicagoan Mary Claire Cerone says her team didn't play like they wanted it. Sitting at a North Side bar, she watched the Dodgers seal a century of World Series futility for the Cubs.
The Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of their first-round playoff series with a 3-1 victory in Los Angeles.
Back in Chicago, throngs of people milled outside bars near Wrigley Field. The mood was low-key, almost somber.
Margaux (Mar-GO') Moline, who recently moved from Texas, became a baseball fan because of the Cubs.
The 24-year-old says she'll never give up on the team that hasn't won a World Series since 1908.
She says "everybody can have a bad century."
