Police: Seven charged after vandalizing 'wrong house'
Seven people, angry that their car windows had been smashed by vandals, were arrested early Sunday morning for an apparent retaliation attack on a house on the 2600 block of Rohlwing Road in Rolling Meadows - which police confirmed was the wrong house.
The first incident occurred on the 3700 block of East Frontage Road, where police were called around 11:30 p.m. Saturday to investigate broken car windows. No arrests have been made in that vandalism.
However, some time between 12:05 and 12:15 a.m. Sunday, the victims of the first attack smashed five windows on the house on Rohlwing Road, even though Rolling Meadows police later confirmed those residents had nothing to do with the earlier vandalism.
Nine people were taken into custody, and seven - including three juveniles - were charged with criminal damage to property. Charged were a 16-year-old from Arlington Heights; a 16-year-old from Schaumburg; a 15-year-old from Schaumburg; Alfredo Garcia-Lopez, 23, of 1102 Knollwood Drive, Schaumburg; Felix Rodriguez, 17, of 216 Flagstaff St., Hoffman Estates; Raul Valencia-Bonilla, 18, of 1076 Knollwood Drive, Schaumburg; and Juan Rios-Araujo, 19, of 1076 Knollwood Drive, Schaumburg.
Court dates for the four adults have been set for Nov. 26.
