Cleaner aboard school bus sends 5 kids to hospital

METAMORA -- Five central Illinois students are being treated at a hospital after experiencing breathing problems after someone sprayed an aerosol cleaning product aboard a crowded school bus.

Officials in Woodford County say the students were headed to a grade school in Metamora, about 10 miles east of Peoria. About 80 students were on board.

Four boys and a girl were taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. They range in age from 7 to 13. Officials say none is believed to be seriously injured.

Bob Hix of the Woodford County Emergency Management Agency says a student sprayed the cleaner, which removes dust from computers and other electronic devices.

A Woodford County sheriff's official say the school is allowing parents to pick up the remaining students.
