Buffalo Grove gal tossed from 'Survivor'

Bad luck and an irritating reputation caught up with Buffalo Grove's Kelly Czarnecki Thursday night when she became the sixth person voted out in CBS' "Survivor: Gabon."

Rightly or wrongly, Kelly was pegged as a "whiner" early on in the 17th competition in the series, set in coastal West Africa. After the Kota and Fang tribes were jumbled and she wound up on a weakened Fang, she seemed certain to be voted out. Yet she aligned with a few of the weaker contestants and saved herself - for a couple of weeks.

Yet last week, when GC gave up and was voted out, that splintered the alliance and left Kelly vulnerable. With the Fang tribe losing challenge after challenge and turning on itself, one of the few things they could agree on was Kelly had to go. She was voted out almost unanimously Thursday night.

Still, Kelly conducted herself well overall, and things might have been different with a few breaks.

She said she wanted to keep competing, but was matter-of-fact in her final remarks. "If it was my time to go, it was my time to go," she said.
