Elgin man sentenced for child porn
An Elgin man was sentenced Thursday to more than 8 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.
Anthony S. Quirin, 28, was charged in January with two felony counts of receiving child pornography and a count of possessing a computer containing video and still images of child pornography.
Court papers show that on July 6 of last year, Quirin received two movie files through his computer.
Quirin searched for child pornography on the Internet, according to the court sentencing, and also used Limewire, a file-sharing program, to acquire videos.
According to the plea agreement, the charges carry a maximum of 10 years in prison; Quirin was sentenced to 97 months.
He was ordered to report to prison on Jan. 6, 2009.
