Mother thanks those who showed support
On behalf of the countless other friends, parents and family members who have experienced the loss of a child, I want to thank the following individuals and businesses for being gracious and kind in helping with our petition to have the FBI look into the death of my son Brian and "smiley-face victims": State Rep. Ruth Munson; Nancy Monroe; Betsy Couture of Paul's Restaurant; Colonial Café; Golden Chinese Buffet; George Wolff Fitness; Harry Hitzeman of the Daily Herald.
Over eight years ago, my son Brian was found on a Lake Michigan beach in Gary, Ind., after having been missing since New Year's Day 2000. Although the manner in which he drowned was undetermined, I know in my heart that Brian didn't get into the water himself, and I am certain that there was foul play involved.
The support of so many friends, neighbors and strangers has touched me in ways that cannot be described in words. I appreciate the time they took to help with my pursuit of the truth. My heart goes out to all who have lost a son or daughter.
