Man arrested near Obama's home had gun in car
A 31-year-old man arrested outside Democratic presidential candidate's Barack Obama's home is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon after Chicago police found a gun in his car nearby.
Omhari Sengstacke also is charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing for approaching security barriers near Obama's home Tuesday. The possession charge is a felony.
Police say Sengstacke wasn't armed but was apparently intoxicated when he was arrested about 6:30 a.m. after approaching barriers posted a block from the South Side home.
Police later found a handgun and bulletproof vest in his nearby car.
Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley says Sengstacke never posed a threat to Obama. Wiley says the man didn't utter any threats and never breached the outermost security perimeter.
