Railroad protesters have selfish outlook

I was fascinated by the amount of people that turned out to protest the possible purchase of the freight line by EJ&E Railroad. I find it difficult to fathom why anyone would be against any measure that will reduce overall traffic congestion on the roadways, while at the same time moving freight more rapidly around Chicago. In addition this measure will keep that freight out of trucks and those vehicles off the highways as well. There are many communities that have rail lines with freight trains passing that sometimes make emergency response difficult. These communities have reciprocal agreements with neighbor communities that assist until the jurisdiction can safely arrive. This happens in cities and towns all over the country every day.

The other question I have is where were all you protesters when Mayor Daley decided to really destroy the communities in Bensenville including the disturbing of hundreds of graves in a religious cemetery. This was deemed necessary to expand O'Hare airport at a time when airlines are shutting down and flights are being reduced. This obviously did not affect you directly so it was not important.

Get over this not-in-my-backyard mentality and allow a very real reduction in overall traffic congestion to proceed.
