McCain's promise just rhetoric

Barack Obama began his campaign for the presidency with a message of hope and a call for change. America responded, eager for a change from divisive politics and partisan gridlocks. Soon all of the candidates were calling for change. John McCain is marketing himself as the "real" agent for change, but is he? He boldly attacks lobbyists while his campaign staff is riddled with lobbyists. They applaud, but do they take him seriously?

McCain insists that the answer to high gas prices is to drill offshore and in national parks and dedicated wilderness areas, putting our beaches and wildlife habitat at risk. It isn't just the footprint of the drilling site. It is also the pipelines, roads and traffic to and from the sites that damage the environment. Barack Obama would protect the tourist industry in our coastal states and our parks and federal lands for future generations. Once gone, wilderness does not return.

McCain promises to make permanent W's tax cuts that favor the superrich (at the expense of the middle class). Obama would provide tax incentives for businesses that create jobs which stay in America. He would also review the tax code to promote fairness for all Americans.

The list goes on. My vote goes to the man with the vision and the wisdom to bring knowledgeable people together to find solutions for our problems. I'm voting for Barack Obama.
