Firefighters wearing pink

Grayslake Fire Protection District personnel have traded in their standard blue T-shirts for specially designed pink ones to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. Embossed with the Grayslake fire logo, the shirts may be worn by personnel as part of their uniform for all of this month. Shirts are available for public purchase at $14 apiece in a variety of adult and children's sizes. About $600 has been raised so far through the shirt sales. Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. To buy shirts, contact Lt. Jim Weidman at the Grayslake Fire Protection District at (847) 223-8960.
