Family at a loss over officer's actions
According to his brother, Dannie Marchan was a good father, a loving brother, and a man who lived to be a Chicago policeman.
But Dannie Marchan took his own life Monday and the life his 7-year-old daughter. His 9-year-old son is hospitalized. Now Javier Marchan and other survivors are left with more questions than answers.
Javier Marchan said Wednesday his brother struggled with being divorced, and tried to reconcile with his ex-wife, who divorced him in 2005. But there were no signs the man's life had spiraled beyond control.
Javier Marchan said part of him is angry with Dannie Marchan for shooting the children; another is deeply sad for losing him.
His brother said Marchan did not leave a note.
