Gurnee sets Halloween hours

Gurnee village board trustees, by a 4-2 voice vote Monday night, approved having children's official trick-or-treat hours from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26. Trustee Jeanne Balmes argued against the afternoon action, contending it would be more fun for kids to experience a Friday night Halloween this year. However, Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik said it's safer for children to trick-or-treat on a Sunday afternoon.
