Cyclist hospitalized in Elgin

Paramedics Wednesday afternoon took a bicyclist to Sherman Hospital in Elgin after she was hit by a vehicle, said Carpentersville firefighter Brian Berry. The vehicle that struck the woman was not at the scene when police and crews arrived, Berry added. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Huntley Road and Tartans Court, Berry said. Berry would not comment about the severity of the woman's injuries and could not say which way both parties were traveling. A passer-by called 911 to report the incident, and authorities haven't released a description of the vehicle that struck the woman.
