Man arrested with gun near Dundee-Crown

A man armed with a loaded gun was arrested near Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville around 3 p.m. today, according to Community Unit District 300.

Dundee-Crown will have an increased police presence this week, the district said.

Parents and staff will be notified of any updates via District 300's phone-based Rapid Communication System.

The man who was arrested was a student in an alternative education program in another school district, according to District 300.

A man and a boy who were with the armed student tried to flee before police arrested them, the school district said.

District 300 informed the community of the incident in an instant alert sent out around 5:45 p.m.

Perry Elementary School, also in Carpentersville, had increased security this week after the school received two threats of violence last week.
