$2 million bond set in hatchet attack
Bond has been set at $2 million for a 55-year-old Chicago man charged with striking an acquaintance over the head with a hatchet.
William Slater appeared in bond court Monday on a charge of aggravated battery.
Police say Slater was riding a bicycle early Sunday when he struck the 60-year-old victim with the hatchet. Police say both men apparently sell loose cigarettes on the city's South Side and got into a disagreement over sales territory.
Authorities say the victim was in critical condition at a local hospital.
