Columnist wrong on Gold Star moms

Ruben Navarrette is mistaken. Gov. Palin is not a Gold Star Mom.

During World War II, families used to hang service flags in their front windows with a blue star for each family member in the service. If a blue star was replaced by a gold one, it meant that the serviceman or woman had died for their country.

Surely Gov. Palin is praying, along with Sen. Biden and all the other families of our troops, that they never become Gold Star Families - and let us join them in their prayers.
